Getting Ready for the Meat Birds

We decided this year we would add meat chickens and turkeys to our becoming more self sufficient. So far so good. We've heard that once we taste one of our own chickens that we'll never go back to store bought. We are so looking forward to sinking our teeth into our own free range poultry. Yes they are enclosed in a Safety Pen for their protection, as is all of our animals. We have hawks, eagles, mountain lions, bears, bobcats, lynx and coyotes. Before we got our Livestock Guardian Dogs, we ended up losing a sheep and a goat to a wildlife mutilation. Broke our heart.
